I was able to play a couple of real-life games of FantasyGrid this past weekend at Mayhem Con in New Hampshire. I got some really good feedback and some ideas for edits and changes.
I am sharing the complete rules here for the WGC community to look at and playtest if you would like.
Any feedback is appreciated!
Playing Area
The playing area is an offset grid that you can make using a game board from another game, or just a piece of foamcore/cardboard.
The Rules
FantasyGrid Rules – v 1.3
FantasyGrid is a tabletop wargame played on a gridded gameboard. The figures represent abstract units. Combat and Magic are resolved using eight-sided dice, with the number of dice being rolled based on the relative strength, or Battle Rating (BR), of the unit.
There are a variety of units with varying capabilities that should create interesting tactical and strategic choices during force selection and game play. FantasyGrid includes a magic system and all unit activations are driven by randomly drawn cards. Which cards you play, and how many, and in which order should generate a substantial challenge for the army general!
